3 Days Young...

And going home!

So here's a quick thought with no pictures,

so I can remember it as much as anything else. Lila is a whopping 6 days old. When she was born and on those first couple days, it looked like she was picking an eye to look out of, generally the left one, and the other would wander a bit or stay closed. As of yesterday, maybe the day before, she opens them both and they track together. It's nothing of course, a prefectly normal bit of baby development, but it feels so huge to me. A transformation of such magnatude! She's shifted to binocular vision in a day and it's just part of the fun. It's just a normal baby thing to do. I mean sure, six days ago her circulatory system changed direction and quadrupuled it's complexity, but I couldn't see that. I watched her pick up a physicality that makes us mammals!

Nana the Scofflaw!!!

So they told us no video in the operating room, and I'm sure Grandmother Edna will say it was all a perfectly honest mistake that she took 2 or 3 minutes of footage, backing up her claim by pointing out that the camera is obviously swinging by her wrist most of the time. However, we have seen the innocent grandma routine one too many times to buy that. Still, as we have the video we might as well show some action of the babies first couple big cries, as well as a shot of her on the scale.

Her Grace, The Duchess of Sleaford.

Taking a break from her arduous space training regimen, Her Grace receives gifts, tribute and fealty from a variety of subjects.

Our daughter the cosmonaut.

Some parents force thier children into thier faded dreams, some children seek to validate themselves by achieving what mom or dad could not. For some reason the Swedish hospital has transmuted my childhood dreams of being an astronaut into a bizzarre plan to make my child into a Russian rocket jockey...jockette I suppose.

More friends, and they were bearing gifts!!!

I know it's all about mom and baby and stuff, but these unsung heros arrived with sugary drinks and lovely lovely fish that not only got mommy back on solid food, but kept daddy from a starved rampage of epic preportions.
I'm just saying lives were saved.

As she moves a little farther from her start she more actively sleeps, and then more actively wakes up.

Friends visiting out of order, but I'm not a designer...

am I? Its hardly suposed to be strict journalism!

Some visiting friends!

People have done a marvelous job of stopping by at intervals. There's been a little sleeping, and the most disgusting poo you ever wanted to see.

More pictures....

She is cute as a pie! Lila Grace Thomsen was born this morning. 8-21-08. 8lbs 8ozs 20 inches with a 15 inch noggin!!! Her mother, father, and Nanna Edna were there for the event. Just a start.

The whole point of this blog is to make pictures of the baby easy for people to see. Will it work? Who knows?!?!
